Australia is host to more than 50 species of invasive Vertebrate Pests. Feral Animals are generally considered to be those that were brought to Australia intentionally as pests, as working animals or for hunting and which have subsequently escaped and gone wild. Some classic examples include cats, goats, rabbits, pigs, foxes, brumbies and camels. These animals are a problem because they adversely affect their environment, either by destroying habitat, competing with other animals for scarce resources or by eating native animals and birds.
