Family: Orchidaceae
Description: The Yellow Leek Orchid has one thin leek like leaf, hence its name. The leaf is often a purplish colour. The Yellow Leek Orchids are quite tall when flowering. The inflorescence can reach 900mm. The flowers are yellow, the labellum having a white edge.
Distribution: Yellow Leek Orchids usually grow moist forest and montane woodland
. It is semi-saprophytic and is often found close to eucalypts.
Comments: Yellow Leek Orchids are very striking plants when in flower. They are not seen often. I have seen plants in growing in deep leaf litter amongst eucalypts and she-oaks in the Gardens of Stone National Park and in Newnes State Forest.
