Family:  Orchidaceae

Description:  The Yellow Leek Orchid has one thin leek like leaf, hence its name.  The leaf is often a purplish colour.  The Yellow Leek Orchids are quite tall when flowering.  The inflorescence can reach 900mm.  The flowers are yellow, the labellum having a white edge.   

Distribution:  Yellow Leek Orchids usually grow moist forest and montane woodland . It is semi-saprophytic and is often found close to eucalypts.

Comments:  Yellow Leek Orchids are very striking plants when in flower.  They are not seen often.  I have seen plants in growing in deep leaf litter amongst eucalypts and she-oaks in the Gardens of Stone National Park and in Newnes State Forest.
