Flowering Period: September to October
Distribution: Widespread in open forest in sandy soil on ridges, hillside and in sheltered valleys.
Comments: Waratahs are erect shrubs growing about 2 metres tall with branches growing from the base of the plant.
The stunning flower heads are bright red, surrounded and supported by red bracts. The large leaves are stiff.
