Maps are a basic tool for all bushwalkers.  They are incredibly important to me.

I use of the LPI Topographic Maps for navigation.

Grid References used in Dingo Gap Gallery use the WGS 84 Map Datum, closely matching the GDA 94 Datum used in LPI Series 3 maps.

To use these Grid References to the GDA 66 Dataum used with LPI Series 2 Maps (no orthophoto on the back) is easy.  The adjustment is an approximation but works quite well.  Simply reduce the Easting by 1 (actually 105 metres) and the Northing by 2 (actually 190 metres).  The Grid Reference for Dunphys Lookout on LPI Yerranderie 89294N changes from GR: 310 322 (WGS 84) to GR: 309 320 (GDA 66).

Dunphy's maps and the Gundungara map are interesting, historical resources that I use when planning walks in these areas.

Google Earth and Google Maps provide additional information and perspective and have been integrated into Dingo Gap Gallery.
