Comments:

Seymour Top is the first top crossed after climbing out of Murdering Gully when walking north-east along Kanangra Walls.  It is best known for the spectacular views across into Kanangra Gorge, Kanangra Falls and Thurat Spires.

In 1864, Thomas Seymour, hunting wild cattle, located a pass through the eastern cliff line.  He became the first white man onto Kanangra Tops.  In 1868 on a subsequent visit to Seymour Top he engraved 'YEAR 1868' on a rock slab at the top of the pass.  In 1934 a plaque was erected at the site to commemorate Thomas Seymour's exploits.

The lower end of the pass starts in a gully eroded by an ephemeral creek. A short scramble up the gully leads to a long ledge heading north which finishes with another short scamble, a route easy enough for a horse.

The whole area is heavily overgrown with extremely thick montain heath making any exploration difficult.
