Comments:

Donkey Mountain is an isolated mesa in the Wolgan Valley.  It is part of the Gardens of Stone National Park.

The top of the mountain is a fairyland of pagodas, canyons, slots & plants.

Despite the altitude the enclosed canyons are home to vigorous rainforest microclimates which are protected by the high walls.

Temperatures in the canyons are a lot lower than the ambient temperature outside and the environment is much moister.  Snow can fall on Donkey Mountain during winter.

More exposed areas are dry open forests with thick layers of tinder dry leaf litter.

Some areas have been burnt by lightning strikes in storms.  In others tall trees have been uprooted and thrown around like toys.

There are many lookouts to enjoy the extensive views of the Wolgan Valley.

Donkey Mountain is well worth a visit.
